I have sold an item locally but do not know how to be paid through my paypal. What information do I give the customer. thank you.

As you have not added your country to your profile (so we can see when we hover over your username) or said in your post which country you are in then sadly can't advise.
Paypal varies a great deal country to country so you need to tell us where you are on this worldwide community forum.

OK then first, personally I think you should never use Paypal for an item that is to be collected or personally delivered as you have 0 seller protection.

Your buyer can collect the item and then file a dispute for non receipt of item. As you would have no tracking number to prove delivery of the item to him then you 'may' lose the dispute.

Why not cash on collection and that way you have cash in hand / no wait / no fee / no risk of a dispute.

Secondly if you want to accept paypal then send them a money request or invoice fully describing the item for them to pay.
