I sent a recipient money and they do not have the funds in their account. What do I do? They’ve checked their settings and account and still nothing. Can I get this money back somehow?

Which paypal option did you select to send the funds ie goods/services or friends/family.

What does it say on the transaction on your paypal account ie sent / completed / payment / unclaimed or pending?

How did you fund the paypal payment?

It was friends and family and it says completed. I know they haven’t received it though so not sure what to do!

If its showing completed then it has successfully transferred to the email address you sent it to that is linked to an active account.

So in other words they have received the funds if you sent to the correct email address, so check that first for any possible spelling errors.

Secondly be very careful, if you were sending the funds to purchase something then its against paypal rules to select the friends/family option and can lead to an account limitation.

More importantly scammers tell you to send funds that way and then pretend that they have not received it. As it was a friends/family payment they know you have negated your buyer protection and can't open a Paypal dispute so they can get away with keeping the funds.

Lastly as you only answered 2 of my 3 questions then I can't advise further on any other possible actions you may take if what I described above is what has happened.

Oh I funded it through my Amex card. Sorry missed your third question. Would I be able to dispute it via Amex? I paid my sister and it isn’t in her PayPal account but her email is correct. In her settings her email is confirmed too so really not sure what’s happened here.

Is your sister in the UK as well?

Does it say pending on her paypal account?

Make sure you didn't miss or add a dot in the email address or put .com instead of .uk etc
