How do they charge a non preferred payment method?

Recently I set my online and in store preferred payment method to a certain card. This card has money on it, but for the next three purchases through PayPal on a game I play they have charged another card, that links to a bank that overdrafts and charges fees for such. It won't even let me file a dispute on these charges it just says read the user agreement. I have removed the unwanted card but I don't get how they can do that. Anyone else have this issue?

Do you have a billing agreement set up with the card with the game developer?

What is an automatic payment and how do I cancel or update one?

Preferred Payment method setting has no control over billing agreement funding sources setting.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

I've had this happen twice now. Both with the card that happens to charge me international fees 🙄 I checked my automatic payments setting & definitely has the preferred payment as my card which covers the fees. I didn't want to have to remove the other card but seems its the only way if they're going to just charge whichever the like...
