Hello,
I tried to make a purchase online today, selected Paypal as my payment method and my debit card as the funding source. On returning to the Merchant's web page after completing the payment, the webstore told me one of my items had gone out of stock, so the order hadn't gone through. This transaction now shows up on paypal as "Authorisation". It also states that "This is a temporary authorisation to make sure your funding source will cover the payment. Your funding source will be charged when The Merchant completes your order", which won't happen as it never completed at their end. However, my debit card HAS been charged.
Is this a holding fee that will be returned, or is my money forever lost in the ether?
Just a note: this is a large company with a particularly awful webstore.
