Email address not working for refund

Hi someone needs to refund to my paypal account but they said the email that I used for login doesnt work. Do I need to setup the email for this purpose? Can someone please help me... thank you

They don't need your email address, if they click on the transaction in their paypal account and then on the refund option on  that details page then the refund will automatically go back to the funding source you used to pay.
