Can you please explain why PayPal has accessed my bank account and then charged me a $5 fee????

On Monday 02/10/23 I purchased goods from PC Case Gear to the value of $130. I used my PayPal account for payment which I had a balance of $160. I notice today that PayPal has Direct Debit my Bank Account for $130, then Return Direct Debit for $130 and then charged me an Unpaid Payment Fee for $5. Can you please explain why PayPal has accessed my bank account and then charged me a $5 fee????

I am sorry to hear that you have experienced trouble with a recent transaction. Please be informed that  the first payment method will always be your PayPal balance and then the remaining amount will be charged from your funding source. Since you mentioned that the direct debit was returned and was charged with unpaid fee, do you see the transaction of $5 on both PayPal account and your bank account?? If it's only on your bank account, please contact your financial institution to look into it. If the charge is on your PayPal account only, kindly reach out to PayPal Customer Support Team through the available contact options on our website so that our advisors can review your account and help you accordingly as we'll not be able to discuss any account specific concerns on this platform.
