Can't seem to cancel a reoccurring payment I made when i didn't have an account.

A while back, I decided to pay for a service on a website that I trusted. However, to actually give them the money for said service, I had to do PayPal. So that I did, except I didn't make an account at the time, because I thought because this was a one off thing, a one time payment that would cancel my service once the days had passed. Fast forward about a month, I check my bank and see that very recently, PayPal sent another payment to the site. One that I did not authorize and wanted to cancel. So I made my account, for the sole purpose of trying to cancel this payment. However, there is a major issue. The reoccurring payment that I had involuntarily set up was not showing up on my account's profile. No matter where I looked, no matter what I tried, nothing worked. Puzzled, I tried looking for answers elsewhere, but I am at a dead end. I would like some help, because to this day, I am still getting money taken by PayPal, and would very much like it to stop. Does anyone have any ideas or answers to help with my oddly specific situation?

Cancel the subscription with the merchant you took it out with?

Then contact the card that was used to set up the subscription and cancel it with them?
