Can't claim payment sent before confirmation of PayPal a/c.

I was sent a payment before I could confirm my PayPal a/c and now after confirming the account I can't claim it. PayPal saying the transaction isn't available. The sender already sent me a payment confirmation email. It's less that 24hrs since I was sent the payment. How do I go about it?

Did you create the new PayPal account using the same email address the payment was sent to? Have you fully verified that email address, and have you also confirmed the account by adding a credit card?

Is it asking you for any other documentation of any kind to verify identity?
