I use the Android PayPal app on a Samsung A52. I tried to deposit a paper check to my account and got a screen saying that I had to grant certain permissions to proceed. When I clicked CONTINUE it took me to the PayPal app screen in SETTINGS, which showed that I had already granted those permissions to the app. There was no way I could see to go further. Going back brought me to the same message saying I'd need to grant the permissions, so I'm stumped. What am I missing?

Hello @Brewerpaul
Congratulations for your first post in the PayPal Help Community!
Sorry to hear that you're not able to deposit your check using Cash a Check service in PayPal app. Since the permissions are already granted and you still getting the pop up about granting permissions, please try uninstalling and reinstalling the app of latest version to see if this helps to resolve this issue. You can refer this page for more information on Cash a Check service. If the issue persists, please reach out to PayPal Support team to get this resolved.
Hope this works, have a great day!
Bindu

Thanks for the suggestion. Actually, when I didn't get any replies right away, I did exactly what you suggested. I deleted and reinstalled the app and I was able to go as far as taking front and back photos of the check and submitting the deposit. This time, the deposit was rejected for no specific reason. I found a little "i" icon and clicked it for more general information and was told that the deposit might have been rejected because PayPal couldn't read my signature, the quality of the photos wasn't good enough, etc. I wished that I could fix those issues by measures such as re-writing my signature with darker ink, and taking the photos with better lighting but the "information" said that I could not resubmit the deposit. That seems pretty unfair, and I wish that PayPal would change that policy.
