Money on hold

Hi there. My friend has sent me money through Paypal but he used his bank card and made the transfer. Since then, the money is on hold and I have not received it. Does anyone know what the issue could be?

As you haven't added your country to your profile (so we can see when we hover over your username) or said in your post which country you are in so unfortunately its hard for us to advise.
Paypal varies a great deal country to country so you need to tell us where you are on this worldwide community forum.

You are right. My country is the Netherlands and the person who sent me the money is from Jordan. He didn't add money to his paypal, but instead made a transfer instantly through his card.

Then the reason its on hold in your paypal balance is because they used the goods/services option and NOT the friends/family option.

So your payment was seen as a goods/services option and as you have probably not received payments before paypal saw you as a new seller and applied the hold as per below link.

Your sender does not have the friends/family option in their country so that is why the goods/services option was sent.
