Why is PayPal phone support so horrible?

I am currently on hold trying to reach a PayPal agent on the phone.  I have been waiting (so far) for 2 hours and 43 minutes.  This length of wait time is unacceptable for any company, period. 

 

At the very minimum, there should be an option to leave a call back number so I am not wasting my precious time waiting literally hours for PayPal to answer the phone. 

 

To add insult to injury, the entire time I am on hold, I am forced to listed to a constantly repeating commercial of how great PayPal is.   It's enough to drive any normal person insane.

 

I will be seriously looking for an alternative to PayPal.  A company with this level of terrible customer service should not have any customers.

Update: I was on hold for 4 hours and 22 minutes!! Then I just gave up and hung up.  Unbelievable.PayPal SUCKS!!!PayPal SUCKS!!!
