On the PayPal Giving Fund home page, there are links to five highlighted charities as well as several categories where you can explore charities that may represent your interests. I was surprised to see Autism Speaks among the few chosen for the highlighted spots, as I have long known it to be a controversial and problematic organization in the autism community.
Issues include:
* Failing to include people with autism in its leadership and decision-making
* Depicting people with autism as damaged or broken
* Questionable financial practices
Please reconsider using this highly visible spot to promote a charity that many people with autism feel does not represent them or contribute to their well-being.
