Class action lawsuit against PayPal

Hello all, I’d like to reach out to everyone who is tired of PayPal’s sick policy and sketchy business. Here what lead me to this: I was paid by 2 friends money as friends and family. When I went to withdraw the first payment to my bank they said there was a 72 hour delay plus the 1 day to withdraw if they didn’t find a issue. The second one I withdrew to my debit card and they also placed a 3 day delay. I have already talked to an attorney and it appears it isn’t the first time PayPal is sued for placing unjustified holds on funds. It appears PayPal is only holding funds to gain interest from the money. Also: it states in PayPal’s policy’s that holds are randomly placed to a very small percentage, yet both of mine in different days were placed on hold. Fun fact: PayPal has already been sued in 2015-16 for these same unjustified practices.

I am most definitely interested in pursuing this this year I'm having is that apparently PayPal user agreement says that they don't endorse or affiliate with certain types of business basically that's the polite way of putting it so I am a model on pornhub... PayPal is an option to receive compensation I had an account through PayPal and I signed up everything was fine now because it's pornographic material and they don't approve they've decided to deactivate my account and I can't use PayPal not sure how that's possible when they do business with pornhub. I'm feeling slightly discriminated against in a little bit of press because it's like as soon as somebody figures out a way to come up they got to do something to keep them down. How can PayPal legally shut my account down because it's tied into pornhub if they don't deny every model I have the email saying that PayPal works as a payment method for some but then others PayPal decides to deny and close their account so why are they picking and choosing who can be a model and get paid and who can't their business is to distribute the money not tell you how to spend it where where to spend it there's nothing illegal about what I'm doing so I'm not sure how it's legal for them to just close my account. and like I said the one that keeps sticking with me how come only certain people can get paid through PayPal on a site such as that that seems a little discriminatory like something don't add up

Hello Heaven, I’m sorry you’re going through this ordeal. It sounds to me like you’re just trying to make a living. I think the first order of business for you-if you haven’t already done this-is to research alternatives for payment that of course don’t compromise confidentiality. Unfortunately, I’m not positive a class action lawsuit is still a possibility, since apparently PayPal has taken advantage of a recent law that allows them to deny class action lawsuits. I may still look into ways to get around that law, but sadly, as you know, it’s difficult to find the time for such things when one is busy trying to make a living. You mentioned discrimination in your post. I wonder if you have a discrimation case. If they told you they won’t process your payments because of what you’re doing for a living, it sounds like discrimination to me. Best of luck to you. Keep your head up lady!

I too am fed up with the practices that Paypal are doing, and being they are situated in California, CA laws a a lot more different than anywhere else in the states.

I just recently tried to make an Ebay purchase using my Paypal balance but found out that the option to use this balance is no longer an option, it seems money can be deposited into a PP account, but not used for online purchases, the only option for online purchases is to use a credit card,,, there is no option at all to select PP balance as a preferred online payment method, so, depositing money into PP will only increase the interest for PP.

If there's a site to register for the lawsuit, then I'm in 100%, I want a stop to this stupidity, and be able to use my PP balance.

Contact your state attorney general's office...you might not be able to sue them, but you can SHUT THEM DOWN FOR FRAUD.

"You still have my account locked even though I fully complied with ALL you asked me to do...as of today, I will seek legal action. There is NO EXCUSE to freeze the account of a client who has been loyal to you since your company began with NO WARNING. I was first told the "review" would take 24-48 hours; I was then told 7-14 days; last I was told 180+ days or more. I have filed a complaint with the FTC and my state attorney general's office and am consulting with a class action lawyer today. Enough is enough."

Next time make your account a personal one and not a business account. Or just cash out using a debit card

Does your wife have an email I could contact her at? I would like to join the class action lawsuit or sue PayPal for the illegal practices that have happened to me.
