Payment failed

I just received this email:

The payment for your subscription to -------- failed because you do not currently have a back-up funding source for your instant transfer payment. ---------- has been notified of this failed payment.

We will try to make payment again on 22 Nov 2011.

To correct this problem, you must update your funding source to be a debit or credit card.

 

But I do have a connected bank account with plenty of funds. What's going on here?

I also have had problems today with Paypal saying that the transfer has failed and i should try sending from an alternative bank account or card although i was trying to send it from Paypal balance!
