I won an auction on Ebay for a new LCD TV. When I tried to pay for the item, the transaction would not go through using the Pay now option on Ebay. The seller contacted me via email and stated he could not access his Ebay account and sent an invoice to pay to a different account. I sent the payment to the new account and never received the tv nor a response to my inquiries. I tried to get the money back through Ebay,but because the payment went to an account not registered with Ebay, they could not help me. Thank God I used Paypal for the purchase. After opening a dispute, they got me a full refund. I am sure this was a scam and if I had paid with a credit card, I would have lost the payment. Now I only purchase with paypal and will not bid on items that do not accept Paypal. I learned a valuable lesson and hope this will keep someone else from making the same mistake.
