Sending Gifts and Paypal

If I am sending funds as a gift who is in the US and I have enough in my paypal account to cover the gift.  Will Paypal take the funds out of my Paypal acct as opposed to taking the funds from my bank account?

I've done this once before and it took the funds from my bank account.  Did I select an incorrect option?

Welcome to the PayPal community! 

As long as you have sufficient funds in the balance of your PayPal account to fund the complete payment, the funds will be taken from your PayPal account and will not be funded from any other funding source.

This was a HUGE misunderstanding on my part.  Since I posted this, I have learned that a "gift card" balance is NOT the same as PayPal balance!!
