Payment not showing up in account history...help!

I made a purchase through paypal without an account. When I signed up for an account later on that same day (using the same email address I used for my purchase), the "help" section said that the payment should show up in my account history but it's not there...can't get any answers from paypal as to why this is but I now have no way of tracking my order. Any suggestions??

As you originally made a purchase without an Account, there's no way that you would have a record of that purchase in the new PayPal Account you opened later in the day as it's after the fact. In order to have a record of that particular transaction, you should have opened the PayPal Account during the original purchase checkout. In other words, you have to have an Account first, in order to have a history of transactions.

Thank you for your response....that makes total sense, except that there's a category in the "help" section that specifically says you can view purchases made prior to opening your account as long as when you open the account (after the fact), you use the same email address that you used when making your original purchase.
I guess that's not the case.
