received e-cheque and money being held

Hello all. I have received echeque and user from ebay told me he paid straight away after listing and he has no idea what e cheque is from. Its saying I m not supposed to send item till 3rd february (4 days from now). Shoud I really wait till that day? Why this is even happening? Sorry for my concern this is my first time experience with echeque on paypal. thanks all for advice.

When someone pays you it is never instant > paypal CREDIT you the funds and then paypal take the wait for the funds to travel from the buyers bank account to paypal to reimburse themselves. This is so the buyer gets their item swiftly.

BUT paypal only take that risk if the buyer has a back up card linked to their paypal account as well, if they don't or that card has expired then the buyer (and you) have to wait for the payment to transfer from the buyers bank account > paypal > you ie an echeque.

Echeques can fail so yes its advisable to await clearance.
