PayPal (afaik) always sends you a receipt after a transaction. Which is great - it makes the customer aware the instant any 'scams or unauthorised transactions' happen.

Scammers 'change' email addresses once they have hacked paypal accounts so no you would not always get an email to make you aware.

So my point remains, by checking your paypal account often you reduce that risk and that is why paypal send those emails out.

There have been posts by folks that did check after getting that email and found fraudulent transactions, so there is a point to it, annoying though it is for the rest of us that do check our accounts regularly.
