Debite MasterCard Fee

My current account at my bank used to use a Meastro card and paypal did not charge a fee for me to send money to friends but now my Maestro card has expired and my bank has switched to debit MasterCard, paypal now charges a fee to use that card - recognising it as a credit card rather than a debit card?

What can I do? Will this be fixed? Paypal claims not to charge a fee on debit cards, just credit cards.

Sending or receiving money between friends and family within the UK (in GBP) :

Free when funded by the sender’s PayPal balance, bank account or debit card. If you use a credit card to send money, a fee of 3.4% + 20p applies.

Contact them and see if the card you are using is considered a credit card.
