Echeque -send item or wait

Hi, I have sold my iPad today but the buyer has paid by echeque, which I have never heard off. I received an email from PayPal notifying me of this and that I was to send the item and then email them a copy of the tracking/shipping number and the funds would then be released into my account. However I also looked online and have been told to wait for the funds to go into my account before sending the item. I have sent an email to PayPal to confirm if the email was legit but have not received reply yet

I am am unsure what to do as I'm reluctant to send it in case the money doesn't get released, then I've lost the money and the iPad.

has anyone else had this happen? What should I do?

Thanks

This DOES NOT sound like an echeque, this sounds like a scam.

An echeque SHOWS in your paypal account with a clearance date.

Read this and see if it fits >>>

 A TYPICAL PAYPAL SCAM.

They encourage you to use paypal and often ask you to send the item as a gift to a relative somewhere often Nigeria.

You will get/got a "fake" email that looks as though it is from paypal.....it isn't.

It will say the buyer has paid ...you won't have been paid.

They will tell you that the payment is released when you provide paypal with a tracking/shipping number......this won't happen.

They also threaten legal action...have a laugh at that one and ignore it as its rubbish.

Paypal NEVER tell you to send trackable, they advise it for seller protection etc but it is not compulsory.

Paypal NEVER tell you to send an item before the payment is showing in your paypal account.

Delete any emails and ignore the scammers.
