One week ago i got randomly approached by a girl on instagram who said she likes me and wants me to come to uk,then she told me about a guy called Roldan George who claims to work at UK Immigration office and can help me get a passport and a visa and as well as a job opportunity once i get there, the problem is he was asking for too much money and i sent those money trough friends and family becouse i never used pay pal before and i didn't know this method has no security to it,he asked first for 100 euros, then 250,then asked for 1200 euros but i managed to give him just 600 from those 1200,the way i found out this was a scam is that i downloaded the girl's photos and i did a google reverse image search, then i found out she is an instagram personality with another name and account,i tried the best i could to block the money so the scammer doesn't access it,i called my bank and i spoke about the situation, then i have opened disputes on pay pal and i'm not even sure if i have won them all it says is "cases closed" can anybody here who really knows how to use pay pal help me recover my stolen money please 😞 btw the scammers are still speaking to me trying to convince me to pay even more for those passport and visa fees,if i lost money at least tell me honestly if those money are lost forever 😞

You really think that is how UK immigration works with corrupt officials ???

A friends / family (or gift payment) is intended as a transfer of funds from family or friends to one another. For this reason, there is no processing fee when payment is made with bank or PayPal balance.
However as it is a gift payment, there is also no buyer protection as no goods or services should have been exchanged.

If he was not a close mate or family member you should never use that option as it negates your buyer protection.

You would also not be able to open a dispute (apart from one citing an unauthorised transaction), which would be automatically closed as you did authorise the initial payment.

Be careful as using that option for purchasing goods is against Paypal rules and can lead to account limitation.

If you funded your Paypal payment via a credit card then contact your card issuer and see if they will help you but unfortunately they may decline as well as it was a gift payment.

Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.
