I purchased a chair from marketplace, paid through PayPal but they have said because it was a private purchase there is nothing I can do about it. We have been scammed and it was bought for my dad who is under palliative care
Unfortunately, if you sent payment as friends and family/personal, then buyer protection is not applicable. You essentially sent a ‘gift’ payment and there is no obligation for seller to send item. There’s an option to switch to “Paying for item or service” or “Goods and services” from “Sending to a friend” or “friends and family” during the payment process as per: How do I send money?
