Why was I charged 5.87 euro after receiving a full refund from the seller?

Hi,

I attempted to purchase a part for my car using Paypal on the 31 December 2023. I was informed that the part was unavailable after I had paid and was issued a full refund through Paypal on the 2nd January 2024.

However, when I checked my card online, it shows a charge of 5.87 euro.

Why did they charge me?

Any information is welcome as I'm confused.

@Tiga1

Did your seller deduct their fee from the money you sent them when they refunded you OR

did they use the 'send money' option and not the 'refund' option so you were charged a fee?

No, it clearly shows that the seller refunded me and I don't think that the seller deducted their fee from the money. So, I'm still confused...

Anyway, thanks for the reply!

Hi everyone, thank you for visiting PayPal's Community Forum. @kernowlass, thank you for your help getting a resolution started on this thread. We appreciate your time and expertise!

@Tiga1, thank you for that update. It sounds like the $5.87 was a charge separate from the original transaction, is that right? In that case, is it possible the refund went back to your balance and then another transaction was funded with your balance and card? If not, I'd recommend reaching out to our Customer Support teams to review the transaction further. Apologies for any inconvenience this may have presented.

Best wishes!
