Why can't I appeal my case

I recently discovered unauthorised use of my paypal account with 3 separate transactions. The smallest being £6, the highest being £550. I put in a case that it was unauthorised and it recently came back that the £6 one was refunded but not the £550.
The £550 is what I wanted back more than anything, but whenever I try to ask why I can't appeal it says that the case is either pending, out of the 10 day appeal window or it was settled in my favour. I only got the case back today, so it's not 10 days, and the case says closed so surely it isn't still pending? So does that mean because it refunded me the £6, it thinks it was settled in my favor??
I really just want my money back, and I'm unsure if I should try doing it through my bank instead?
