Unauthorised transaction on my account

Last Friday night I started getting PayPal emails asking if I wanted to stay logged in on 'this trusted device'. The device was not mine. Moments later another email saying I had authorised a payment of 100 euros to a German company. This I also had not done. I attempted to cancel the transaction via PayPal but it did not allow this, nor would it allow me to open a case against the transaction as the transaction was pending. I immediately called PayPal, I was assured that the transaction would not go through and a case would be opened on behalf. Today the transaction went through and $170 has come out of my bank account. I opened my own case that has since been closed stating it shows no fraudulent activity. I again called PayPal who also said the transaction was authorised by me. No it wasn't. Another case was opened, however this time the PayPal staff member has called it item not received! And we now have to wait and give the seller time to respond. I feel like I am just getting the run around. Does anyone have any advice.

Run a virus and malware scan on your computer. PayPal is only able to approve an unauthorized dispute when it is clear someone else logged into your PayPal account.
If someone accessed your device using a virus or malware, then the logins would look like you made them. If you can run a virus and malware scan, it would resecure your device.
Save a report of the scan and provide it to PayPal's Customer Support. They may be able to reopen your unauthorized dispute with that information. You can find the different options for contacting Customer Support here.

My response is to Paypal closing a case where I was scammed by approved paypal accounts
Paypal closed the case without any attempt at resolution
My reply to paypal shown below was bounced back to me as the email address i got from paypal appears to be no longer active despite being on their website what a waste of time
"Thank you for your unhelpful response to my claim
The payment was made using a business credit card so don’t understand how it was a “family & friends payment”
At the very least you should block these scammers paypal accounts to prevent any further scams being committed
The respective adverts are still on and active on Amazon Marketplace (who have been less that helpful over ths matter)
I Have a copy of the dialogue with the scammer informing me that they were a fully approved
Paypal account
I have written to “Rip off Britain” to see if they want to include it in a future programme
I am now very reluctant to use paypal as a payment means for any future purchases so you will be the losers"
When in business as an internet retailer I had several paypal accounts which dealt with hundreds of online transactions

Firstly you can 'fund' a friends/family payment however you like including a business credit card. Its not the funding source that determines that type of transaction its how you 'send' the funds.
Secondly a dispute for an unauthorised transaction is telling Paypal that your account was hacked and used without your consent to make that transaction.
Paypal would check IP addresses and devices and close the dispute if it was you that made the transaction.
So if that happened re-read my post above in reply to the original poster and see if you can appeal that decision.
As friends/family payments are sending 'gifts' of money to someone and not purchasing anything then what would you report them for?
No one would be scammed if they used the goods/services option so that they had paypal buyer protection.
As for you having 'several' paypal accounts before then again you were breaking paypal rules as you are only allowed x1 personal and x1 business account maximum.

re your response I did not make either payment as a "family & friends" payment The second payment was apparently made as a recurring item payment neither of which I did. It would seem that the scammers knew exactly how to put through the payments to avoid the buyers protection. The adverts are still on Amazon Marketplace along with some other similar adverts offering similar products so I guess that the scammers are repeating the same thing with others.. Their paypal accounts need to be suspended to prevent further losses. The comments re multiple paypal accounts are because the accounts ere held in different names of legitimate limited companies selling different products each of whom were accepted by paypal so there was no intention to have multiple accounts. We need to get these paypal accounts suspended to avoid similar problems the the general public at large
