Target refunded a gift card instead of paypal

I will never buy anything at target again and will cancel my target card. What a scam. I bought an item with paypal credit, cancelled it the next day and instead of refunding it to my paypal, they sent me a stupid target gift card which I don't want and will not use. I have now opened a case with paypal and will have to contact target.

If I lose this case and target doesn't want to refund back the money to paypal, I will not pay it even if it becomes a collection, paypal and target can go and **bleep** themselves.

i got same problem, i cancel 2 order, I went target store ask for could get cash or money back to my account instead of get store credit. I don't want to buy 650$ at target. that is sooooooooo huge amount! I might spend it over 1 year! they refuse. I call target team. sorry, you need to call us tomorrow because our senior specialist offline. you could give you money back!    then !  I call target and reach the target senior specialist according to our policy we can't refund money back to you. but you could spend money at target buy whatever you want. or, you asking about the person promise could give you money back? I am so sorry. I can't do it. I really want to help you. but our policy can't............................................that is sooooooo hopeless. bro

Yep. They got me too. The problem is that they make no effort to communicate that purchasing items online with a PayPal balance will result in a gift card only refund. A simple warning in red font about the consequences of using PayPal will do. They're clearly aware that customers are shocked when they find out after the fact based on the calls they receive on the topic... Its will only kill their online business in the long run imo. Regardless, somebody (paypal, governemt) needs to have a word with target execs to fix this esp since it's such an EASY /FAST / CHEAP fix on their end. 1 warning in red font when a consumer selects PayPal option will do. Also , the default settings for online customer accounts should be updated too. For example,, pay ahead of time vs when you arrive is auto checked.
