Someone appears to have accessed my account and has changed it to a business account

Hello,

I received some emails from PayPal earlier in relation to having set up a business account, which I didn’t do.

Two of them were related to providing further information regarding the business account and one was confirming a new phone number had been added to my account.

I didn’t see the email until an hour later. I immediately logged in and changed the password, as well as removing the phone number that wasn’t mine and a recently added address that was my address but in a different city.

I’ve also removed any access I didn’t recognise, one lined up with the time of the emails.

My correct phone number was still set as primary so any access codes etc were being sent to me.

It doesn’t appear that any transactions have occurred in the time between the presumed unauthorised access and me changing my password.

I now have a business account I don’t want or need which I can’t seem to close, I guess I’ll need to speak to customer services when they’re open, but I’m just wondering if there’s anything I’m missing regarding the fraudulent activity?

What’s the scam here? Am I potentially at risk still?

TIA

There is no automatic way to downgrade a business account to a personal account, you have to contact customer services and they will do that for you.

Click help / contact bottom left of Paypal pages for options available for your country.

Or have you considered contacting Customer Service via Facebook or Twitter?
You can send them a personal message from their facebook or twitter pages.
It's: https://www.facebook.com/PayPal and @AskPayPal for Twitter.

I would change your security questions as well + keep an eye on your funding sources.

Kudos / Solution appreciated.
