I was scammed by a PayPal user back in November, who requested I sent funds by friends and family. Once I realized I was scammed, I immediately filed a dispute with them, which was denied. I was then told by a CS rep to file a chargeback with my bank to get the funds back. Fast forward a month, I receive a debit on my PayPal account for the 100, because they claim I was reimbursed twice, but there is no record of this. After hours on the phone and hundreds of messages with CS, I was informed that when a user generates a chargeback, PayPal takes the money from their account, and pays that to the bank, which they consider a reimbursement. Because my balance was 0 at the time, I now have a debit on my account, which I need to pay, regardless of the outcome of the chargeback from the bank. Any recommendations on how I can get this removed, because when all is said and done, I am either out 100 (if the bank refunds me, I have to pay that to PayPal to cover the debit), or 200 (the original money I was scammed for plus paying back the debit). I am doing my head in talking to PayPal support, can anyone help?
