Buyer wanted to pay by PayPal but I said no as there are lots of scams around and I will want cash on collection. Buyer said they only have PayPal credit and they will wait until I've set it up. Immediately warning bells but I went along with it and gave them my email address. 2 miss later am email saying I have a payment received but my account is low so I need to ask my buyer for an additional £200. The buyer insisted she had sent it, I asked for a screenshot, she then asked for a screenshot off me. I said why.. I quickly changed my paypal p.w. and deleted the bank details. I've heard nothing from her since. Is this a know scam or is it a new one ?.

Known, common scam.
You never pay any upfront fee as a seller.
Ignore scammers that send fake Paypal emails telling you that you need to pay an upfront fee to verify/upgrade to a business account/or any other reason to accept a payment. They often pretend they have sent you funds and you have to 'refund' some of the money first.
They send fake paypal emails saying you have been paid but its pending until you send the refund............you will never get any money.
You would certainly never have to send funds especially via another payment processor/bitcoins/ or tokens/vouchers of any sort.
Any fee is auto deducted by Paypal at the same instant the remainder of the payment is credited to your Paypal account balance.
No funds in your balance = you have not yet been paid, even pending/held payments will still show in your Paypal account activity.
Also there is NO seller protection for items personally collected or delivered.

Kudos / Solution appreciated.

It works because you then get an email stating the buyer has paid the extra but YOU have to refund it by sending xxx amount via another payment option ie bitcoin or vouchers to expand your account to receive payments so the buyers funds are then released.
Of course if you are daft enough to send bitcoin etc then you are scammed as the email from paypal is fake and the buyer has paid zilch.
Seems obvious but some fall for it.
