SCAM/FRAUD SELLER Posting on Facebook

I recently thought I was purchasing a great deal from Facebook. There was an advertisement coming from Wayfair for a five-piece outdoor furniture set with cushions selling for $89.99. When I submitted the order, no email was coming back from Wayfair for the confirmation. Instead, it was a suspicious SCAM/FRAUD SELLER ending with 163.com. I was furious and immediately called my bank to stop this transaction. My bank told me to call Paypal and sure enough, that amount was already on my account. Paypal is NO HELP! I checked the status of this dispute and just like everyone else, it was CLOSED! The Seller gave Paypal a fictitious tracking number that was sent by USPS. This SCAM Artist is from China and there is no fringing way that USPS will ship Outdoor Furniture to be placed in a mailbox!  I'm furious, because I lost $112.00. I'm looking into this further and will blast this all over Facebook about this SCAM and also how PayPal will not help!

What sucks is now the scammer has your name, email and mailing address. PayPal and other internet service and social media providers need to take responsibility for protecting users from these types of scams.

I too fell for the cheap outdoor furniture scam, they claimed to be a reseller of Wayfair and Home Depot products. The ad popped up on Instagram and similar ads have popped up on Facebook and in my Google News stream. It did take PayPal about 11 days to rectify the situation.  I used both phone support and app support links. Phone support is much better.  Not sure how these scammers are able to present just a photo with an auto-link to the fake shopping site on Instagram and Facebook.  When I tried to go backwards to find their ad and report them to Instagram, the user name and ad disappeared entirely.

I used PayPal because they advertise purchase protection. I feel I had to jump through hoops to get faster response than from from their in-app and that "process" has some gaps in the process workflow and remediation options. Also, my anti-malware/internet protection software didn't catch these either. And, they aren't pop-ups as I have two layers of pop-up protection. Then, I observed the issue that the web sites have different names than what is advertised and interestingly, whois reports no one has the web name!

Lesson learned, I will never click or purchase from advertisers on Facebook, Instagram, and Google. And, if it looks too good to be true, it usually is a scam.

SAME ISSUE - was with Mikhaila Grace Tamplin as the user name through the same site. There were false shipping docs provided that PayPal relied upon and my entire case was dismissed despite a mountain of evidence provided. Paypal was completely useless and there is no way to even communicate with them on this, so you are not alone. P*ssed right now.

How do I open a dispute with a seller when a purchase goes wrong?

You can open a dispute in the Resolution Centre of your PayPal account within 180 days of payment if:
•You don’t receive the item OR service
•You receive an item but it’s significantly different than the description on eBay or on the seller’s website (or you receive a totally different product).

By opening a dispute, you can communicate directly with your seller to work out a problem transaction.

If you reach an agreement with the seller you can close the dispute. If you're still not happy with the result, you can escalate the dispute into a claim. Paypal will review the claim and decide on reimbursement.

These steps apply to Personal accounts. If you have a Business account, please log in to see the steps that apply to you.

To open a dispute:
1.Log in to your PayPal account.
2. Click on the transaction and use the resolve a problem option at the bottom of that details page.

Note:
•Generally buyers must wait at least 7 days from the date of payment to escalate a dispute for an item not received
•Where an item has not been received, please ensure you have given the seller enough time before opening a dispute

Do not close the dispute until you have a refund or your item.
If a seller states that they can't refund until you have closed the dispute don't believe them.
Escalate the dispute to a claim within 20 days (before it times out), if you need Paypal to get involved.

If you lose because the seller provides a fake tracking number then post back here for more advice.
If the item arrives and its not what you ordered / not as described then make sure you change the dispute quickly from non receipt. If the dispute times out before you can change it then contact customer services to open a second dispute for the new reason.

Activate the below link in case you have to return the item at Paypals request (or the correct one for your country as this is the U.S link).

https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/returns

If that does not work then if you funded your paypal payment via a card then contact your card issuer and see if they will issue a chargeback.

Seller provided a false tracking sheet. Not sure how but the link went to FedEx, and the document showed no address (just the city), a false "signed for" person, and the weight was incorrect, should have been over 75LBS but it was listed as 26LBS, PayPal did NOTHING about this and won't refund. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, I also was scammed. They posed as Home Depot & I even took photos of their fake site, but PayPal denied my dispute. I never received any furniture and lost about $600. It sucks that PayPal won't reopen my claim and reimburse. I don't understand why I will ever choose to use PayPal again, because I know that my credit card would have reimbursed me and I also would have been able to talk to a live person. What is the point in using PayPal?

I am careful about what websites I order from. When the Wayfair website appeared on facebook, I took it as legit. Place order, entered credit card info, which would not take, and them proceeded to use Paypal. Charge when through paypal almost immediately to a company called "Kone Trading Company Limited". That's when the red flags started going off. Checked the legit Wayfair website, which I have never ordered from and have no account. I immediately filed a dispute with Paypal who responded that they could see no problem with the transaction and the matter was closed. I will wait and see if I ever see a product delivered and file another dispute if needed. You would think with 21 people acknowledging they were scammed, that paypal would take notice. The list of people scammed goes back for over a year. Will wait and see if I actually get any product.

Sadly you can only open x1 dispute per transaction.

So always best to wait and see if item arrives as you have up to 180 days to open a paypal dispute for non receipt OR item received but not as described.
