Refund of money

I had a payment of $350 pending in my account for an item I’m selling. I received an email saying because I don’t have a business account it would take 24 hours for money to clear. I spoke with the buyer and let them know I was happy to wait, but they gone an deposited an additional $650 into my account and asked me to refund the $650 back to them. I’ve checked my account, there is no money in my PayPal account from them. I’ve explained that to them but there saying to read the email I got from PayPal that tells me to refund the mo way now. Obviously I’m not stupid, but is this real, do PayPal do this?

You never pay any upfront fee as a seller.

Ignore scammers that send fake Paypal emails telling you that you need to pay an upfront fee to verify/upgrade/or any other reason to 'accept' a payment.

You would certainly never have to send funds via another payment processor/bitcoins/ or tokens/vouchers of any sort.

Any fee is auto deducted by Paypal at the same instant the remainder of the payment is credited to your Paypal account balance.

No funds in your balance = you have not yet been paid, even pending/held payments will still show in your Paypal account activity.
