Possible Business Account scam?

I use PayPal for small transfers of money - payments and receipt of payments for auction items bought and sold.

I don't have a business account and it's never been a problem.

Have a buyer trying to make a payment (which isn't registering in my Account Activity) and trying to convince me that PayPal is informing them that they need to pay an additional £200 to upgrade MY account to business? Sounds like nonsense.

Is this a scam, and if so, how does it work? I'm not sure what they are trying to achieve.

I've told them repetitively to cancel the transaction, but they seem fairly dogged...

Any advice would be appreciated.

SCAM.

You never pay any upfront fee as a seller.

Ignore scammers that send fake Paypal emails telling you that you need to pay an upfront fee to verify/upgrade to a business account/or any other reason to accept a payment.

They then send fake paypal emails telling you to pay the funds using another payment processor ie bitcoins/ or tokens/vouchers etc.

Any fee is auto deducted by Paypal at the same instant the remainder of the payment is credited to your Paypal account balance.

No funds in your balance = you have not yet been paid, even pending/held payments will still show in your Paypal account activity.
