Permanent BAN / limited account.

Got a permanent ban / limitation and account blocked or terminated without any good reasons..

I've had an account for YEARS, in good standing, etc. Never had a problem.

I've sent quite a bit of money back in late 2017 to a few people for a project.

They sent me that thorough identity confirmation process to keep going.

Submitted all documents, all were accepted, except the proof of identity was rejected multiple times.

The document they ask doesn't exist with the date of birth on it, in Quebec, Canada.

And I believe some other people around the world have been having trouble with this process as well.

After trying to contact them by e-mail, without any responses, I called.

They said that my account was terminated.

I asked to get access to my money in the account and I got it transfered to my bank not long after, no problem there.

I also asked what I need to do to keep using PayPal.

"I have to create a new account?" The girl on the phone said yes.

I did, now this account not long after sending and receiving some money, got permanently limited.

I cannot use PayPal anymore, ever, for the rest of my life.

I called twice so far.. no specific reason given, other than "business decision".

People on the phone being rude. Unheplful.

I feel like I'm being treated as a criminal or a scammer?

PayPal is just a great service and useful. And I need it to receive money for business and personal matters.

What have you become?

All this process was caused ENTERILY by PayPal itself, revoking access to some people, almost at random, to their services.

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one here.

I don't know if anyone got out of this mess and had success getting access to their service again.

Please. Help.

Try asking them through twitter. They do not have a customer service email for some reason.

It happened to me too. I sent money to friends in other countries as a way to support them financially, and because of that, I was permanently limited from using MY ACCOUNT. I was BANNED from using MY ACCOUNT for no damn reason. And when I demanded an explanation, they didn't respond me.

Welcome to the club, great business model, just cancel your clients. How is that working PayPal? I like to repeat this again, I am in if someone starts a class action lawsuit. They continue to keep your records and continue to have access to your accounts against your stated will. They can clean out your business or personal account for no stated reason, because they have some contract created -- which no one of you ever read. Just a warning to everyone.

LET'S SUE THEM!!! SOMEONE PLEASE ADD US ON YOUR CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT, AND SHOW THESE PEOPLE THAT WE DEMAND ANSWERS TO WHY WE WERE PERMANENTLY LIMITED TO USE OUR ACCOUNTS AND WE WANT OUR ACCOUNTS RESTORED, LIFT THESE UNFAIR BANS AGAINST US AND IF WE WANT TO CLOSE OUR ACCOUNTS, LET US DO IT RIGHT AWAY!!!

Here I am, same problem here. I am writing from Italy.

Few weeks ago I got my account limited. Going into the limitation page, where I had to insert all the informations and documents PayPal asked, I read that the reason was related to some "suspicious transactions". In the third point of the limitation unlock process, I had to specify more informations about those transactions, and here the problem begins: PayPal asked me to specify more informations about NOTHING. I suppose they had to show me a list of those transactions, because the message was like "Give us more informations about these transactions etc etc etc: " and after the colon, totally BLANK SPACE, no trace of these suspicious transactions and of any transaction in general.

For this reason, in the box where I should have written all the stuff to justify the operations, I wrote that I couldn't give informations about anything, because no transaction was specified to me.

And in the end, as 4th point of the verification, I had to give them my bank account statement in PDF. There is one single problem: I do not own any bank account, in fact my only payment connection to PayPal is Postepay, an Italian pre-paid VISA card. So I attached the balance of my pre paid card.

Result: permaban! Nice job PayPal, whoever is involved in internal politics is really good in his job.

I also called them after some days (because it's not possible that in 2022 I have to pay in order to call them from mobile line, so I succeeded into calling them from my parents landline) and the operator told me that she wasn't really aware of the reason of my permaban, she only knew that I violated PayPal's policy and their choice is irreversibile and indisputable.

It's trivial to say that obviously my latest transactions were totally legal: I had some few Twitch operations, a mobile phone recharge, train tickets and payments to friends.

If someone from the upper echelons is reading this, I recommend that you update both your ban policies, contact methods and availability, otherwise I fear bankruptcy is very close.

Same thing for me. Paypal scum. I can't see any reasonable way to contact anyone. They hold my information forever and I can't even use their services? That's straight <removed>, damn these scammers.

Hi @james953,

I'm sorry to hear that we've permanently limited your account. I know that can be frustrating, but these decisions are not something made lightly. Typically if an account has been permanently limited, then some part of our user agreement has been broken, but without being able to see the account, I would not be able to share any details. I would suggest reaching out to PayPal customer support using any of the options found here, as they will be able to provide more direct assistance: PayPal Customer Support

I hope this information is able to clear some things up for you.

Dear James,

You should be ashamed of your response, it as far from the truth as possible. Have you ever talked to customer support when an account is banned? They repeat themselves over and over and over and say virtually nothing. And I have not broken anything on your user agreement -- I actually ready it, have you? Seriously, if you want to give advise, you should read it.
