Friend had notification 2 days ago of PayPal setting up a Direct Debit.
Today she paid for clothes for £40 using PayPal. However, she found that a random Monzo card got charged, not her normal card.
She has now cancelled this direct debit set up, but what should she do now?

Hello @WillJudd,
Welcome to the PayPal Community!
I'm sorry to hear the incorrect card was used for your friend's recent purchase. If the card that was used wasn't a card your friend ever added to the account, she may have had unauthorized access at some point and will want to review her recent Activity. If she finds any unauthorized charges (ones that she did not make, not the one she did authorize that had just been funded with an incorrect payment method), she'll want to file this dispute. After that, please have her reset her password and set up 2-Step Verification.
If the card used for the purchase was one of her cards, there's a chance she encountered our Security System. If our Security System determines there's risk associated with a transaction, it can limit what payment methods are available. This could have resulted in a different payment method being used without her realizing it. Alternatively, she might also need to update any existing subscriptions to her new Direct Debit to ensure they use the right payment method.
For any further assistance researching what happened, please have her reach out to Customer Support through one of these options.
I hope this information helps!
