If you feel that an unauthorized party is trying to access you account or is in possession of your personal data, call us immediately and report it to our team. I had this same thing happen to me this evening. I reacted in the same manner. I changed my password and activated 2-factor authentication. However, I am unable to remove my old phone number. It populated as a home number. I have no option to remove it and if I try to enter my primary mobile number, it tells me that phone number is already on my account. I really don't like the fact that some stranger's phone number is now linked to my account through an action that I did not perform. I've been a member since 2001 but I'm tempted to leave this platform. This is crazy to say the least. A big failure by PayPal.

I do understand your concern regarding login issue due to the multi-factor authentication into your PayPal account. Please note multi authentication factor adds an additional layer to the account login process by needed the PayPal users to enter two or more authentication methods for verification which provides extra security. Please reach out to our customer support team to know what can be done next or to get an understanding of the possible solution to the issue raised. Since you are unable to login into your PayPal account do reach us via phone by selecting the "Call us as Guest" option on our PayPal homepage.
