Negative wallet, friends and family scam

I made the mistake of using friends and family to pay for a product I bought online. I realised it was a scam, have not received the item and instead was asked for another £150 to deliver it. I contacted my bank and they have cancelled and refunded the payment. Two weeks later PayPal have made the payment to the seller despite me contacting them to say it was fraud, and my bank hasn’t made the payment but PayPal have given me a negative wallet. Have called PayPal who say there is no protection for friends and family. What can I do?

Paypal can't cancel processing payments, they only cover you for non receipt of item / item received but not as described or unauthorised payments. This would not come under unauthorised as you did authorise the original payment and the other 2 would not apply as it was an f/f payment.

So paypal paid as per your request to pay via the friends/family option. As far as they are concerned they don't want to foot the bill because of your mistake so they want their money back.
