Need to close my account but I still have balance in my wallet and no way to remove it

Hello,

I made this Paypal account when I was living in Malaysia and had a Malaysian bank account. I'm now living in the US so I need to close my Paypal account and make a new one with a US address. But I can't close my account since I still have some balance in it (in Malaysian Ringgit). I tried to send the balance to a friends paypal account so I can close it, but it did not let me send the money since my malaysian bank account and card are no longer open. When I try to send the balance, Paypal asks me to link a new card, but I can't link my US card since the account address is set to Malaysia.

Please advise me on how to remove this money from my balance without a malaysian bank card so that I can close the account

Paypal is country specific so if you move countries you have to open another paypal account in the country you reside in and add an address / phone number / bank accounts / cards from within that country.

You should really withdraw any funds / resolve issues / remove cards and bank accounts / cancel any subscriptions and close the old Paypal account before you move countries. If you don't then you may have problems doing so once you have moved and may need to contact customer services for help to resolve things.

You can however add a U.S bank account (not card) to 'most' other countries paypal accounts. This is because paypal is a U.S company and so allows this.

Contact options for each countries Paypal customer services are accessed by clicking help/contact bottom left of Paypal pages.

1. Paypal phones when available (you can use the guest option if you can't log in).
2. Live chat is also randomly available.
3. You can send them a message, during business hours you may also be able to message whilst logged out.
Or
4. Have you considered contacting Customer Service via Facebook or Twitter?
You can send them a personal message from their Facebook or Twitter pages.
It's: https://www.facebook.com/PayPal and @AskPayPal for Twitter.
