Invoice with Santa Cruz Armory for $740

Received an invoice for Santa Cruz Armory for $740.39, from PayPal.  Red flags I saw had extra spacing between the numbers in the phone number.  The email address was not for the supposed seller or PayPal.  Other than the PayPal logo at the top of the invoice any mention of PayPal was hyphenated (Pay-Pal).  Number called did not answer or go to voice mail.  The ship to address with my name was [removed] in Oklahoma City.  There is no [removed] in OKC, just an [removed] and addresses there are all higher, at least 4 digits.  I reside in Ohio.  I guess I bought the armory as that is all that is listed in the description.

Hello @hiram392

Welcome back to the PayPal Community!

I'm sorry to hear about the suspicious email you received. Based on your supplied information, it sounds like you received a phishing email. I recommend visiting this Help Center article to learn more about how to report phishing emails. Please do not click on any links within the email. If you accidentally had, you'll want to reset your password and security questions. Now, if the invoice does show on your PayPal account, please do not use any of the contact information listed in the invoice. You can also cancel it within your account. You can learn more about invoice scams here

Thank you for reporting this phishing attempt; stay safe!

Hi @brashbeezy313

Thanks for reaching out to share your experience!

I understand you also received a phishing email, and I apologize for the concern it caused. Please forward the email to the email address listed on our Help Center here. If you receive a similar email in the future, please do not use the contact information listed in the email. Fraudulent companies like this try to pose as PayPal or other legitimate companies and then work to gather your personal details. Once they have enough details, they use them to access your accounts and make unauthorized transactions. Whenever there's any suspicion, please go to PayPal or the merchant in question's website directly, without clicking on links in the email, to find their proper contact information. I'm glad to hear this fraudulent company's phone number has been disconnected!

I hope you have a wonderful week!

- Meghan
