I suddenly have money to accept in PayPal but it doesn't say who it's from. Is this legit and if it's not how do I decline it?

Hello @PatS5

Welcome to the PayPal Community!

I understand you've been notified you need to accept money, but you're not sure who it's from. I apologize for the confusion. If you received a payment in your PayPal account, you should be able to see who it's from in your PayPal Activity as well as your email notification. If you don't see the payment in PayPal, it might be a phishing email or another type of scam. Please click the links to our Help Center to learn more.

If you weren't expecting a payment, it might have been sent to you by accident. You can learn how to refund PayPal transactions in this Help Center article. Refunding unintentional transactions can help prevent disputes. If you are planning on accepting payments regularly, you'll want to ensure your email address and phone number are confirmed. Additionally, a verified account should automatically claim payments, so you don't have to do it manually.

I hope this information helps!
