Hello there! About a week ago I was scrolling through a b/s/t thread and saw something for sale for a decentish price that I have been iso for a year or so. Keep in mind it was still quite a large sum of money that made a dent in my pocket, that looking back I probably should not have spent in the first place but as I said I have been looking for this thing for a year so I jumped on the opportunity. Nonetheless I messaged the seller, and they replied with the total and their paypal, saying they can ship the upcoming Thursday. Because this was on a b/s/t thread to be cautious I asked for a photo with both of our usernames in it, which they gave no problem. Their willingness to comply and initiative of the conversation, led me to believe they were trustworthy, and because this is not my first time buying something on a b/s/t thread and using (what I thought was paypal g&s) I was more willing to continue the purchase. Because this item is quite popular in the community and I was quite I excited I rushed bought asap not realizing that it was on f&f especially because for some reason I though when you bought from someone you haven't before it automatically is on g&s. Moving on it was now Friday and no response, making me grow worried, so I messaged them asking if they were able to ship. They did not reply so on Saturday I went to look at our messages and saw that they deleted their account. I immediately booked it to paypal to refund the order, as I could not lose that amount of money. This is where I noticed that it was under f&f because it was not letting me report it. I still tried to report it anyway with photo evidence in hopes that they would understand. That same day paypal closed the case, and sided with the buyer. I then called my bank where they said they will let me know in 10 business days if I will get my money back. Furthermore, I have messaged the seller since asking for a refund, but because they deleted their account they did not reply, even through paypal. Today I was scrolling through a different b/s/t thread and saw someone talking about how they were scammed. I knew it was by the same person because they included photos. I messaged this person, telling them I was scammed as well, where they told me that this person scammed 6 other people. Knowing that this person is a serial scammer, with photo evidence, is there absolutely anything we can do. Can I get my money back?

A friends / family (or gift payment) is intended as a transfer of funds from family or friends to one another. For this reason, there is no processing fee when payment is made with bank or PayPal balance.
However as it is a gift payment, there is also no buyer protection as no goods or services should have been exchanged.

If he was not a close mate or family member you should never use that option as it enables the seller to evade paying his Paypal fees and negates your buyer protection at the same time.

You would also not be able to open a dispute (apart from one citing an unauthorised transaction), which would be automatically closed as you did authorise the initial payment.

Be careful as using that option for purchasing goods is against Paypal rules and can lead to account limitation.

If you funded your Paypal payment via a credit card then contact your card issuer and see if they will help you but unfortunately they may decline as well as it was a gift payment.
