How long do PayPal take to review documents?

I have been trying to lift the initial receiving limit of £1,900 per year. To do this, PayPal required documentation to be sent to them as proof of identification and address. As a genuine seller, I had no problem doing this, and I uploaded scanned copies of my passport and recent bank statement for PayPal to review.
However, the problem is that this is taking a very long time with no clear indication of when the review will be finished. I uploaded the documents almost two weeks ago. I was told that the review would be finished within 48 hours (obviously this information was extremely innacurate). I have tried to contact PayPal, but I only received a generic response - "we are still reviewing your account. Thank you for your patience". That's great, but this didn't answer the question of how long this will take, be it several more days, weeks or even months!
I would just like some clarification as to how long I should expect to wait until this review is complete? At the moment there is no clear answer, and I am keen to start selling again but I cannot until the review is complete and the receiving limits are lifted.
Thank you in advance.

Hi Evgenij,
Apologies for the delay in getting back to you here.
I can definitely understand your frustration with this situation. Generally, when we place a limitation, it's a normal review where we need some additional verification from you.
As we can't see any account details on your side from here, I'd definitely advise contacting Customer Support directly so we can take a look and help with this. Alternatively, you can contact us via Facebook (www.facebook.com/PayPalUK) or Twitter (@AskPayPal) for assistance.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Sophie

I have the same problem.... from 2013. I supplied all the necessary documents in 2013 but I haven't receive any answer yet. Yesterday I sent them to PP again. The problem is that I want to start selling on ebay but my account is limited 😞

Hi catalinfil,
Welcome to the community forum.
If you don't supply documents within 10 days of us asking for them your case can timeout. Don't worry it doesn't mean we won't review your documents but that you may need to get in touch to let us know they are there.
You call us by clicking 'contact' at the bottom of any PayPal page or you can contact us on Facebook www.Facebook.com/PayPalUK or on Twitter @AskPayPal .
I hope this helps.

Hello gaydarov,
Thank you for your message and welcome to the PayPal Community! If you have submitted documents in relation to a case in your account, this will be always reviewed by our specialists. If your account is currently limited, the review is normally completed withing 24-72 hours.
However, if your account has a 'warning' case, the review might take a bit longer. This is due as a warning is not an actual limitation. With a warning case all the features of your account remain active during the review process, so even when you see the 'warning message' you can still use your account as normal 🙂
If you have contacted us via Facebook, I am sure you will also receive a respond 🙂
Hope this helps,
Carlos

I also do not understand this. I have send all the papers and I am waiting now, if this is going to be 72 hours, then I am really impressed. What bothers me most is that it said that I am approaching my limit but in that calculation I was still free to get some money on my account. After next (small!) transaction, my account was blocked. It has most of my college money for next year, because I used it as a savings account. I really don't like the fact that I got no confirmation that they received my email.
Huge amounts of automatic responses (or no responses) and then total silence. How can anyone feel safe & secure, I wonder? I had no idea about that limit until it was too late, and the amount exceeded the limit for a really small amount. It is crazy to leave so many people to wait in vain for something small like 20 eur. I am going to loose my education if I don't get this money on time, and all I did was rent out my flat during the summer for tourists and never exceeded any local laws!
Also these customer service tips ... really, people?! You advice us to look at the account and are sure that someone is taking care of it? What do you think we do, when our account is blocked? Not look at it and just ignore it?!
Please credit us with some dignitiy and intelligence.

I am so happy, it really only took 3 days! Thank you Paypal Europe, Maria and Esther!
I hope everyone has as short time possible without access to money. Best wishes, Tina
