I've been scammed by a company called Actitech, has anyone else, they've taken four payments of£38.99 and I'm trying to convince PayPal that it wasn't authorised, they don't seem to believe me

A lot of times what happens is people accept a free trial for a product and forget to cancel. Also  with some companies that do free trials or surveys you have to 'untick' a box rather than tick to NOT set up a subscription.

As a buyer you must agree to a billing agreement/subscription before a merchant can take a payment from your PayPal account.

If you don't notice during checkout OR don't cancel then it auto renews. Be careful what you are accepting.

Check if you had a subscription set up and cancel it?
Click on the profile tab (icon next to log out) > Click on payments third option along on the thick blue band top of page > "manage pre-approved payments.''

This subscription did not show on my apple subscriptions. They have a way to hide it.

Hello @Cyndi64,

Welcome to the PayPal Community Forum!

We are sorry to hear about the unrecognized transaction made from your PayPal account. It sounds like this may have been a billing agreement or subscription. You can find the automatic payments also called subscriptions details on the PayPal website by following the below mentioned steps:
Go to Settings.
Click Payments.
Select Automatic payments.
Select the merchant.
You can cancel the automatic payment on this page. Kindly refer the help centre article to know more about What is an automatic payment and how do I update or cancel one?. If there is no subscription or billing agreement you have and you think there has been unauthorised use on your account, kindly file a report to PayPal by suing the help centre article How do I report an unauthorized transaction or account activity?

You can also reach out to our customer support team to know what can be done next or to get an understanding of the possible solution to the issue raised. Please reach out to the Support Team during business hours by clicking the Contact option at the bottom of PayPal page.

Hi folks,

I found this thread a couple of months ago after I was charged by Actitech. I could not find anything about it in my Apple subscriptions. I protested the charge and Paypal denied it. Finally, I went to my e-mail and searched for Actitech. It was an app called "Dancebit". They charged me after a free trial, but the subscription was invisible so I had no idea I was subscribed to them. I lost that money ( about $70), but wrote an e-mail to cancel further subscriptions and took a screenshot. If they charge me again, now I can show Paypal that I have canceled it.

I see this company is charging people for apps with different names and people write about it here. However, writing and complaining to a community is not going to stop them. If Paypal knows what they are doing I am sure they will stop dealing with them.

So, please consider calling Paypal or writing to them and refer to this thread. They may not listen to one person, but they will take it seriously if hundreds complain.

They double-charged me for months for yoga-go, which I did sign up for. They charged the expected fee, plus a second charge for a little less. I didn't notice because I was grieving and not paying attention. I wonder if they chose the 3-month pay period so people won't notice as easily. I was able to cancel, no refund, no response at all to my complaint. Today, I got an email from them offering a 97% discount for some other exercise/weight loss plan app. As if I'm going to ever willingly give them another dime. If anyone ever files or finds a suit directed towards them, please let me know.
