Someone has hacked into my account and changed my palpal account to a business account, created a new bank card and sent 'automatic payments' to this new vcredit card. I have reported all of these suspicous transactions, and every single "case" get closed by paypal without hestitation or any communication with me. I have changed my password . My issue is I apparently owe approximately $1600AUD to paypal. This amount is equal to all of the fraudulent transactions that I reported. None of my cases are answered, and all cases are closed. I tried calling PayPal and that does not work - the robot on phone simply asks me to change my password on paypal website or suggest I hang up. PAYPAL I DONT OWE YOU ANY MONEY.

I don't see how I can owe money to PayPal - PayPal is not a credit card or a bank lender. I've reported the suspicous transactions to paypal ,and they do NOTHING but close the case and suggest I change my password. Please help!

If the transactions are completed then someone owes paypal the money as they have done the transactions made from your account, so now they want paying back.

If you report the transactions as unauthorised then paypal will check IP addresses etc and make a decision based on that and other factors.

However there are some instances when you are not covered ie if you are using a VPN for example.

If so you may have lost protection for unauthorised transactions.

Your best bet is to contact paypal and appeal. If you get the bot when you phone try saying AGENT a few times and see if you get transferred?

Contact options for each countries Paypal customer services are accessed by clicking help/contact bottom left of Paypal pages.

1. Paypal phones (you can use the guest option if you can't log in).
2. Live chat is also randomly available.
3. You can send them a message, (during business hours you may also be able to message whilst logged out).
4. Have you considered contacting Customer Service via Facebook or Twitter?
You can send them a private direct message via Social Media on Facebook, Twitter/X, or Instagram pages.
