Google card scam

Hi, 

Someone who wants to send money from the US has said I need to pay a international fee by purchasing a google card for £50

This stinks of a scam. Am I wrong? Is Paypal authorising payment with google cards a thing?

It’s a scam. PayPal would never request such a thing.
