The added email in the email notification is not mine, and it is an Gmail address. Checking the email list in my profile there is only my email. What happened?

If its not showing on your paypal account when you log in then its likely to be a spoof trying to get you to click on any link in that email so that they can hack your account?

Kudos / Solution appreciated.

I suspected that, but the email from the sender and the "let us know right away" link seem legit: https://www.paypal.com/vn/cgi-bin/?cmd=_contact-phone&v=1&utm_source=unp&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=RT000603&utm_unptid=e0db333c-8a31-11ee-9a49-3cfdfeefcde4&ppid=RT000603&cnac=VN&rsta=en_US%28en-VN%29&cust=WCX86CAVUP8EY&unptid=e0db333c-8a31-11ee-9a49-3cfdfeefcde4&calc=f6856218c9821&unp_tpcid=null&page=main%3Aemail%3ART000603&pgrp=main%3Aemail&e=cl&mchn=em&s=ci&mail=sys&appVersion=1.216.0&xt=104038%2C127632

Yep, definitely a spoof. The give away is the hyper link on the words 'let us know right away'. Paypal don't get you to log in via a link in an email, that would be how they hack you. Plus bad grammar and unlike a paypal email.

Hello everyone! Thank you for visiting PayPal's Community Forum. Thank you @kernowlass for your help so far on this one. I'd like to step in and add a bit of clarification here.
@Ooker, I'm sorry to hear you've received a bit of a confusing email. PayPal may include a link for you to log into your account via email for your convenience. I've pulled the following info from our article How do I spot a fake, fraudulent, or phishing PayPal email or website?
"Always check links in an email before you click them. A link could look perfectly secure like www.paypal.com/SpecialOffers. Make sure to move your mouse over the link to see the true destination. If you aren’t certain, don’t click on the link."
With that in mind, checking your account for that unknown email address as Kernowlass suggested is always a wise step to take. However, you may still want to reach out to our Customer Support teams to see if an email address was added and then removed and / or update your password and security questions for good measure.
My apologies for any confusion this may have caused,
- Jon K
