My phone and laptop were stolen, filed a police report and when I was able to login to my account again there was money sent sent to an unknown person for $6,500. My bank rejected the transaction as they knew I had items stolen and it looked fraudulent in nature. I informed PayPal also and filed a dispute. They rejected the dispute and gave no reason and will not put anything in writing and are trying to collect on the transaction as money was never sent from my bank account thankfully however they say they will not close the transaction. I called and they said they could reach out to the criminal who initiated the transaction but that was it. I have a police report against them as well as filed online fraud reports with various agencies. I don’t mind paying for a lawyer to fight this as I also don’t want this to happen to anyone else on here if they should have there a device stolen or there account hacked into..it seems PayPal does not care if people attempt to steal money from your account. Any advice on lawyers or mediation, I’ve talked to several people in the industry who say there is. I way PayPal could win in arbitration or a court case in this matter but it seems like they will drag it out until then. Any way to speed up the process, they don’t seem to care about any legal entities or even my bank stating it was fraudulent and will not provide anything in writing for an insurance claim as I have insurance for identity theft and fraudulent transaction but they need something from PayPay stating why which they won’t provide.

How would they get into your password protection laptop/phone or password protected paypal app?
Also its your responsibility to keep your devices safe so not sure why paypal has to foot the bill if they were stolen? They don't cover all unauthorised payments so check in the user agreement.

Kudos / Solution appreciated.
