I got a money request from Edward McLeod mentioning a bitcoin purchase that I know nothing about. Is this a phishing scam?

I haven't found any reference in my account, so I have assumed it was phishing and haven't acted on it, I was surprised to receive it, just thought I would try to get conformation from this forum. Thanks for your response.
