Dispute gone against even after providing proof that seller did not send item

Hi , I’m struggling to get any help from PayPal. I made a purchase in October and in November it still hadn’t been received so I contacted seller they admitted it was out of stock and I needed to file a claim. I opened a dispute on November 2nd and forwarded all of the proof and conversations between me and seller with them admitting it wasn’t available and apologising (seller very helpful ) they agreed to refund but told me I needed to do it through a dispute. I have since done all this but PayPal said I needed to return the item for a full refund ! How do I do that when the item wasn’t sent / does not exist ? PayPal have since gone in the sellers favour and I am £75 out of pocket it’s ridiculous

If paypal are telling you to return the item then you didn't open a dispute for ''non receipt of item''??

So which dispute did you open?
