Diamond ring and buyer protection?

Looking to buy a diamond ring (£11000) from a private seller. I will send payment not as friends and family, am I fully covered under buyer protection?

Paypal covers you for non receipt of item OR item received but not as described, however for the latter it has to be items SIGNIFICANTLY not as described.
So if the seller sends you a ring worth a tenner then you paid for a ring and got a ring so you may not be covered.
Proceed with great caution, personally I would not buy from a private seller something for that amount.
I would want to get the item valued and then pay by bank transfer whilst the seller is with me.
Buyer protection is not a 100% coverall, you need to read up on it and then risk assess your transactions.
Advice is voluntary.
